Re: Valve guidance.
Cam cover off, plugs out ( makes it easy to turn the engine over )
Points cover off .
Use 19mm spanner to rotate crank, so valve open ...the lobes should be level with edge off head as in horizontal.
There is a sequence that when 1 is open so is another one , but just as simple to adjust in order .
The clearance is between where the 10mm locknut and tip is and top the valve
The 1 that needs checking is the 1 with free play , 0.09-0.013 mm is the clearance.
Loosen locknut , adjust slotted tip up or down to the correct sliding gap of feeler gauge. Tighten lock nut ......repeat 16 times .
Reseat cam cover using a smear of grease to keep it in place , so it dosen't turn in when you don't notice , espiecally at the cam tunnel area. ,, tighten mushroom bolts in alternate sequence , ensuring copper slip applied , so next time you decide to do them the bolts come out with less worry about the Allen key rounding out the shallow cut head.
A lay mans explanation , but a reminder of what you already know. I know!

Re: Valve guidance.
Result eh? However you did know that when you decide to check valve clearance ...they never need doing?
Plus side, debris that accumulates is banished ..for now.
What you going to find to do now?
