Parts Info

Post by KitKa » Sat Feb 12, 2022 5:51 am

Hi I’m down in New Zealand and getting info and parts is difficult. You have posted about doing a pop up on a budget. I was very interested as I have four of the animals. One could do with a new fairing. Can you give me the info of where you got the aftermarket fairing. Secondly replacement fork tubes, does any body know of a good aftermarket replacement. I’ve tried rechroming but was not impressed with the finish. If anyone has names of companies that make bits for the pop up please share. I’m looking at trying to reproduce parts like lenses and plastic welding for bodywork repairs. Is there anywhere who does tanks my spare is going on my pop up monster hybrid, a 950cc air/oil cooled, 135hp, 5 1/2inch rear wheel bundle of fun.

Hi there matey , I did get your email but you entered the question on here before I could reply .
Anyway I searched through our history and got no response from our original contact in Japan :(
However this link is of interest .
https://avenue748.wordpress.com/suzuki-fairings/
It it's an old listing but you never know.
Here’s a 750 katana pop up we justfinished It was a five piece mould, and had a lot of tucked under edges. So it took a bit of time to lay in all the glass, because you have to let areas dry before you turn them over. But all is well and it is a perfect piece.

Thanks for the link. It’s still up and running. Someone I read was after a lower body fairing for a pop up, the person sells through ebay under Avenue748r, he is selling them for $395 Aus.
Have you any contacts that produce fork sliders for the pop up?
Have you ever thought of opening a post where people can add names of companies they have found that produce parts for pop ups? Just so everyone can go to one place rather than have to scan through loads of posts.

To be honest we did look into having parts made years back but getting the backing to start was difficult after the initial interest, so it slid by .
As for forming a directory we can look into it.
