any plane anoraks here?

Post by johnr » Mon Oct 24, 2011 6:00 pm

interesting site, shows the location of every airline and transport plane in the air in the world in real time, zoom it in over where you live and watch the little planes fly over the map as the real ones fly over your house!!!

A fellow tech geek pointed this out to me a few months ago, and we concluded that it was the very reason for the existence of the Internet! I have the app on my phone so I can bore my wife at the weekends

and if you pass your mouse over any plane icon, it gives you the flight number. click on any icon and it tells you what airline, what model plane its current speed and altitude, its bearing and destination, number of seats, engines, power etc etc etc!!

Cool site. Strange there's not a single plane in the whole wide African continent. Not the whole world is online, it seems.

depends how close you zoom in, i looked at one of the london airports earlier and there were planes stacked one on top of the other on the map. i suppose not all flights are scheduled.
