'wheely' interesting find i think!

Post by johnr » Mon Feb 06, 2012 8:44 pm

ok, i have to admit im a fan of the stock suzuki snowflake pattern wheels, but theyre a bit weighty, but done to the stock finish of silver and black, theyre a very handsome wheel.

BUT,

im also a fan of spokey dokeys, i just love the look of spoked wheels on a bike, and on a kat, theyre guite good looking, in a retro kind of way, however, with the kat being such a futuristic looking bike, even today, spoked wheels are a bit of a throwback, as much as they look great.

modern alloy wheels look good on a kat too, and can be done very very cheap, but, well, everyone does that dont they?

so, what other options are open to us, well exotica like dymags marchinessi and cma are pretty expensive and tricky to source new or used.

anyhow, imagine my surprise to be told about a set of nice light wheels when i took sues bike for an mot test today. the mot man told me about some wheels he has had upstairs for years and years but nobody wanted to buy them cos they werent stupidly wide. i asked him how much and he told me, well, why not tell me what you think they are worth, as far as i can guess they are genuine 1980s cma's 19 front 18 rear, no back disk, but the front disks arent worn (cast iron rotors on ally hubs, and pretty light) the wheels arent exactly heavy either! but theyre sooooo 1980's and would look pretty smart if you were building a yoshi rep dont you think?

wide wheels are just a fashion statement really, lets face it, the brit boys were running round the isle of man at over 115mph a lap average on little more than 90/90 section tyresand the only tyre probs they had were a lack of decent compounds! i couldnt believe these wheels had been in that shop for over a decade that ive been going in there!

That's some nice wheels indeed. So you've got one more project in your mind, haven't you?
