Hahahahahaha that's classic Pedda

I had a noise similar to that once at work, I'd just put the mower back in van & heard that excat same sound, so I checked the tyres, nothing.
Wasn't til I noticed some fluid dripping out the side door that I realised I'd just lost 3/4's of my large can of WD40!! The can had fallen over & the mower wheel had depressed the nozzle.....

I keep all my cans in a basket now

Didn't want set another post about this Dulville but we are settled in to things and now , it lives up to it's title of Dulville , ie; it goes ,it stops , in a supertanker sort of way , it wobbles the same all the time so no suprises ! ;)
No , tonight the milometer tells me we have covered 23500 miles............. at 10 o'clock this morning when I filled up £19.01, ...........it was 14583 miles :? ...............9000 miles in 8 hours on quarter of a tank, wow ..... or do you think the electric milometer , is less reliable than the old fashioned mechanical one? ;)

Sorry to bring this up again , but no wonder this countriies bussiness's are in a mess.
Main *onda dealer serviced my company bike 2 weeks ago , 16000mile service, they couldn't fit it in when we asked but in 2 weeks time , so it was done at 19500miles.

Total cost for service incl brakes again and rear tyre again £795...... :o (£45 per hour labour! :o )
It was noted front tyre nearly due, I said I know but we do 1500miles a week so it will last 2 weeks .
Phoned them to day to get in in for front tyre done , ok they said April 14th, sorry 2 weeeks wait for a tyre.
I know they have other customers but we have spent £1200 in the last month on servicing these 2 bikes and they get done every 5- 6 weeks thats £1200 every 6 weeks and it'll only take 1/2 hour
You'd have thought they would keep a set in stock.

Phoned the local little place I used to work at , drop in first thing.
guess where the other bike is getting serviced on wednesday!

You'd have thought with a guaranteed income like that they'd make room for you every time eh?!?!
Can't figure these businesses out.
Also gotta say £45@hour is par for the course. Cars are double that. Not saying it's right mind you.

its not rip off britain. fair yanks my cord does stuff like that. firm i work for charges out my labour at near double that rate and i dont see much of it!. ok if youre a main dealer, youve got premises to maintain and keep up to spec, mechanics and receptionists and parts store men to keep, then you need a stock of spares, and tools, ( my mate is an independant mechanic and he has just bought a diagnostic computer to fix electronic engine management systems on hondas, just hondas, no other marque, its essential as modern bikes have management systems and warning lights and diagnostics like modern cars. this has just cost him 4 grand, and he will need a suzuki one, yam one, bm one, kwak one, ducati one etc. ) your man dealer will need specialist tools and workshop equipment, he will need to be insured to the hilt for everything, public liability, vehicle insurance, try getting business contents insurance on a shop full of motorbikes and spares!!, he will need an accountant, his staff will want paying and paid holidays, and pensions and sick pay, and overalls and a works do at xmas no doubt. he will have to pay to dispose of everything deemed hazardous, from old oil to tyres and batteries, and then create a paper trail to keep for years in case the men from the ministry think he is dumping them up some country lane. he will need to send his staff on training for every new model that comes out, and buy the geuine service literature from the marque in question, on top of this he will probably have to run a van and a driver, and then theres the heating /air con in the shop, water rates, business rates and all the overheads from buying in bikes to sell, to restocking the coffee machine in reception and filling the soap and bogroll dispensers in the lavvy. after all this, as its his name over the door, he might want to pay himself a wage. and you feel that youre getting fleeced if he wants 45 quid an hour from you for providing all that and employing all those people??? seriously? you dont have to pay it if you dont want, but if you dont want to fork it out, then dont complain that he wants to charge it. cos i'll bet that the proportion of that 45 quid that is pure profit is less than he will pay for the oil he puts in the bike.

When i said rip off britain john, i wasnt talking about the £45 labour. I was more on the lines of the quality of service and customer satisfaction/service. Considering all the money that Fossies company is putting there way, a little bit of customer service wouldnt go amiss would it ?

I'll get my coat.

So you reckon £45 per hour labour charge has to cover all the costs of the dealership ?.. This is a labour charge, so take out your bog roll, coffee, overalls etc for the workshop staff. The odd workshop course won't amount to much and diagnostic equipment in a main dealer will pay for itself in no time as it'll cover all the marques models.. They make alot of money selling bikes aswell you know, i'm sure the mark up on a new bike is rather good, and they'll want to make plenty on 2nd hand bikes too, trade in values are crap but the showroom price is high, a main dealer is gonna want to make at least £1k on a 2nd hand bike. As for disposing of old oil, tyres, batteries etc they'll charge that to you on top of the labour, they'll also make profit on the parts they fit (that'll more than cover the parts dept staff wages).. Make no mistake at £45 per hour labour the boss is still getting rich !!

It's beyond me how they charged £795 for a 16k service, what did they do for that.. Oil + filter, air filter, valve clearance (which they probably didn't even do !), bet they didn't touch the rear suspension linkages !. Even if they took 5hrs over it (which should be more than enough) where does the rest come from ? £45 x 5 + vat is about £270, say £75 for pads all round and £120 for back tyre, that still leaves £330 for the little items....I don't see how they can justify that cost.
