Pete you see on that pic, there is a little joint, this will allow you to get there in a blink of a eye.
I would get a little tool set with this in it for the bike it is fantastic with a small rachet, you will love it.
I think it might be hard to get this from the side, as I am not sure you will actually have enough angle to turn the nut.

You can try but I doubt it will work, it is depending on the room you have Pete to turn the nut and I don't think you will have enough space unfortunately.
My bike start normally this morning no problem... She is driving made....

the angle on that deep ring is wrong to go in there... willing to bet you're in the same position you are now....
i think what you could do is the same theory as the pic i posted except with a much shorter tube that the screwdriver part goes through. if the tube was short enough to be between the top of the carbs and the frame rails with a shorter screwdriver bit (or a flexi driver) then i recon you'd be onto a winner.... or maybe even you can still use the full length screwdriver?
just ideas.... my kat isn't too bad there... my ET is a really bad angle too though but with a little persuasion all is ok..... gotta get creative!

Stop staring Pete and try that, get a flat blade screwdriver like the one in every kit and a 8 spanner with a round part should go in, tape the whole lot together and try to move the screw from the side.
You could also use a tube spanner it will be easier you could get a screwdrive at the very hand to get more ease.
Do I make sense ?
If I don't let me know I will go in the garage get some pics for you.

Do you have a parts, or manual diagram?
You should be able to see on it, if you put it in the wrong way.
