Generator cover

Post by AndySwad » Tue May 22, 2012 6:49 pm

May be a stupid question but will the generator crankcase cover simply pull off after the case screws are removed, mine seems loose stuck at the bottom, not too good at gentle so don't want to damage anything by prising off

Are you sure it's a Kat? Kat engine, Kat clocks, Kat wheels and forks? Mmm! It's not silver is it!

Hi Andy. Take the starter motor out and make sure the alternate wire is free. Give the casing a couple of taps with a rubber mallet. As u pull it free make sure u feed the wire through. They are sometimes tight

it will just be stuck on one of the dowels, they can seize in situ being steel dowels in an ally casing. just tap it with a malet or rubber hammer

pop a bit of coppaslip or acf50 grease on it when you reassemble, and use a genuine gasket, pattern ones dont cut it there!

I always lightly grease casing gaskets before fitting, as they can sometimes be used again if not broken. And it make removing the remnants from the cases a lot easier too!
