New front fairing

Post by AndySwad » Sun May 20, 2012 8:04 am

Considering getting a new front fairing what type would be best

450 gsm fibre glass with white gelcoat finish ready to paint

or

Black polyurethane injection moulded plastic

Are you sure it's a Kat? Kat engine, Kat clocks, Kat wheels and forks? Mmm! It's not silver is it!

The black "plastic" ones on the bay are really good quality mouldings

Have seen them "in the flesh"

Company that makes them seem genuine too

Yep, bought one of those black fairings and the side panels from PLM. Excellent quality and good to deal with.
If you catch up with them at a show like Stafford, they usually give a bit of a discount. Not that expensive anyway.

It's actually 'LPM plastics' and on ebay they trade as 'kwacky racer' now so yes you've got the right one :D :D

If you have, or are going to join the club I think you'd get a discount but don't quote me on that.

Yep my 1000sz has the original fibre glass fairing, and so did some of the other owners Kats on here , until they sold them thinking they were non standard.......... ;)
The early fibre glass fairings suffered from the paint cracking and Crazing around the indicator mounts due to vibration, so the plastic replica ones will eradecate this problem! 8-)
