I dont know what it is with my house, but during the summer months(i know) the upstairs rooms get really really hot. It must be a design thing or something. The house has no loft and the roof is flat(well nearly flat). All the hot air gets trapped upstairs and the kids find it hard to sleep. The air con makes the difference between them having a good nights sleep (and thus me) or not.

Prob right John. The roof has about a foot void between the ceiling and flat roof and that is more than likely empty space. These houses were built in the late sixties and although they won lots of awards at the time, they prob didnt have much insulation installed. I wonder if i could get them injected from above ?

Always wondered wether i could bung a sedum garden on it. But roof maybe not designed to hold the weight.

get em insulated from inside, blown insulation like they do for cavity walls will do it. make it cooler in summer and warmer in winter. also depending how tall your ceiling heights are, we fitted a ceiling fan in our bedroom, its nice in the summer keeping us cool. and with it being right over the bed, its not like you are going to hit your head on it. AND i can pull the chain to turn it on and off with my toes!!

Will see if i can have that done. Had the exterior walls done a few years back.

Was thinking of sticking a Velux skylight in the middle of the roof. Would let the heat out.

Cheers
