Re: If anyone has time to read this.......
why not do yourself a favour and fit a set of 1100 barrels and pistons. you can hang onto your 1000 barrels in case you want to go back to stock in future, but a set of 1100 barrels and pistons will be cheap enough to buy and wil go straight on with no other mods, and also give you a handy boost in power to boot!

Re: If anyone has time to read this.......
Update and major problem!!!!
Head now off and I have a problem.
Good News
barrels ok, pistons ok
Needs rings (standard size) and gaskets
Bad News
camshafts and seats in cylinder head knackered!!!
I'm being told that I need a complete cylinder head and inlet and exhaust camshafts.
They reckon at some time it must have run dry. The camshafts seem warn and the seats also so shafts are rocking when they shouldn't.
So......has anyone got a Cylinder head complete for sale!!!!!!!!!!
or is there a possible 'other way forward'

Re: If anyone has time to read this.......
Well, first off, don't panic mate.
If the seats are worn then (unless someone knows different) yes you'll probably need to replace the head. Don't think you can have them built up.
The good thing is (I think I'm right in saying) there's nothing special about the 1000 head so grab a head from an 1100. As far as cams go there is a difference in the duration timing on the 1000 but if worse comes to the worst then 1100 cams will do you for now.
Availability, well, I've got a pair of 1000 cams somewhere but the last time I saw them I noticed rust on a couple of lobes as they'd fallen out of their wrapping and got damp. That might make them scrap, I'm not sure. Haven't got a spare 1100 head tho' sorry.

Re: If anyone has time to read this.......
thats an old style head... fewer camcover bolts. if yer looking for complete try find a newer 20 bolt camcover head.... keeps the oil in better. that on also needs the drilled holes in the inlets welding up....
call roger and discuss current head...

Thanks so far guys. I'll def give Roger a call for a view, thanks for number. Chris, if we find those camshafts of yours are ok...are you up for selling them?. Pete I know if there's a head out there you'll find it

PS A mate of mine has said he thinks the shafts can be built up and reground, I guess Roger will be able to answer that one.

Re: If anyone has time to read this.......
Yes I'd let them go as I'm not likely to need them now but please don't get your hopes up to high as I need to find them and check their condition.
I'll let you know soonest but it'll probably be tomorrow mate.

Re: If anyone has time to read this.......
Im quite sure the later EF cams will also fit and will give a slight power increase over the 1000 cams. So that'll increase your chances of finding some cams. Roger upperton used to have loads of old GSX1000 motors............ask him and he may even have a spare head for sale!
