They all do that sir, you notice the frame tube is now oval, just leave it, or just round it off and fit a bush . It won't fail MOT and dosen't affect braking. Just adjust the mastercyl rod up a bit .

Steve,

Well the rear caliper is already black... like most of the bike! But I prefer a nice red for the calipers... yes, a nice red I think! :-)

The red part was very tongue in cheek, Having read previous comments about red :-)

The stripdown is coming on nicely, getting the bolts in on the driveshaft flange cracked off was a bit hard, but now done, all the same.

Had a quick look at the end casings with paint stripper - no pitting or scuffs, so they are candidates for a full strip and polishing kit!

A few dodgy screws that hold the tailpiece on need to be drilled out as they rotten, but they can easily be replaced.

I have noticed that the gaiter between the swingarm and transmission has been repaired with silicone. Is there a replacement available? or will I have to adapt a universal car CV gaiter?

Ta,

J

I'll look in the kat cave for a gaiter. I have a few spare swingarms.

Cheers for that.... Swingarm is quite good. May need a little plate the size of a large postage stamp welding on, but I won't know until I get it off and stripped down to bare metal. Just trying to summon up the motivation to get out into the shed and finish the engine removal off, but it's a bit parky out there!

I'm also looking for a set of original bars, if anybody has some? Current bars are totally wrong!

fossie.... may i take this oportunity to remind you to look for the shaft drive bolts while you're in there for the 650.... :)

in fact, all i really need is the size of them and i can order some generic 12.9 bolts/cap screws. robinsons want too much for a bolt if i recall.... something like £3 each.. lol

cheers
