....fugging bolt :x :x

So I was thinking to myself that my man flu had almost gone and as it was such a sunny day I would have a go at starting the cleaning of my 750 engine so that its ready to go into my new shiny frame :)

Anyway....as i had a spare cam cover being painted i thought i would start getting the old one off.Only prob was that one of the bolts was refusing to budge :( after a few whacks with the hammer i would ok right? just needs a little help right? no. no matter how much heat or whacking, the bugger wouldnt move.

Its the one at the top front of the cover. and i would imagine it gets its fair share of road crap thrown at at. eventually got the cover of by grinding the top of the fugger with my angle grinder.

Have I just ground down the hole the bolt goes in? coz there aint much left for a cam cover bolt to go into :? :?

aaahhh haaaa. It has a big shoulder thingy. So i still need to get this out.

Answered your own question then :D

Hopefully you can get some heat directly onto it now and with a pair of mole grips it'll wind out....fingers crossed etc etc.

Thats what I was thinking Chris. going to squirt it for a few days first and then set fire to it !!!

Well ticked off with it. It has been the only bolt that has given me any trouble(little prob with front bolt on engine mount).

I hope i am wrong.......But

It also Looks like its covered with gringing debris dust too! :o :o

I hope that wasnt you Pete, and that you stopped any carbarundum dust getting inside your engine whilst you cut the snapped off bolt out :o :o

Because if it IS grinding dust...............and unless you Now strip your engine and clean out all the grinding dust, you may well of FUBAR'd your engine!

you lot are cheering me up no end.

will give it a wipe over just in case any dust got in. Thought the cam looked a bit dry but the engine ran fine before strip down.

Had a look at the engine today and tbh it looks ok. Was a small amount of dust on the cam chain, but i got all of it off i reckon. Going to have another clean round tomoz.Will have a engine flush to be safe as well.

HI Pete. I bought a stud extractor kit from ebay for less than $15 delivered and combined with a can of penetrating fluid i removed all 6 rusted as hell header bolts on my Triumph with relative ease. I had to use the dremel to cut the nuts off first as they were disintegrating off in my fingers.
I'm sure it would be able to get that out no problem.
What size is it? I think mine go up to 12mm.
