Swinging arm bearings, 1100

I want to get my swinging arm bearings out and they are as tight as a crabs arse. Any one got a tip to help them on their way? Or is it just a case of using brute force.

Also does anyone know how much they cost to replace?

On a mission to get it all back together, so that I can get out and come to some of the meetings.

Right. Get yourself the biggest hammer you can. Then...................................................................................

Ps- i always got em out with a metal bar that you can pop into the tube and rest it on the bearing lip, then whack it with a hammer. Move it around the lip to get the bearing out square.

Get something like a 1/2" bar, put a bend in it then grind the end at an angle so that it will pull into the bearing rather than jumping off when you hit it.


Then as callyboy says. . . .. . . . .. . . . . .. . . HIT IT !


But turn the bar to hit around the bearing gradually rather than always in the same spot.

As for replacements,try any local bearing sales shop as they'll be a fraction of the OE Suzuki ones and exactly the same.All you need is the number off the side of the bearing case.

yup, steel bearing casing and ally swingarm means lovely dissimilar metal corrosion, and theyre wide ones them needle rollers, give em aq soak in something like duck oil for a day or 3 and then get the old heat gun on them first, then, beat the crap out of em with the big hammer!!

you wont get them from a bearing stockist, theyre a special with them being a needle roller, dont forget to renew the bush that goes in them as well, and dont be tempted by the aftermarket nylon bush kits you can buy, theyre only any use for getting them through the mot, cos they wont survive the ride home!!!

Got my needle bearings from a normal supplier.... cant remeber who. bike bearings web site gives sizes and most american (look on web) suppliers give you the sizes and the bearing number, just looked up a stockist then. I think the swing arm bearings were about £6 each. as for genuine parts. . . . . . I dont think suzuki have their own bearing manufacturing factory. they just buy them. Although "some" bearings are an odd size and manufacturer specific.
