well, i've managed my entire life to not strip down and sort out a set of forks!.... yup, 30 years of riding and this is my first... lol
so... my "bodged to buggery" sorting out of my kat contines and on friday i took the forks to bits. no problems getting them apart so this should have been a clue as to what was to come
these sliders look past it to me or would you re-use and leave em in?
this'll be part one of a multi part scenario i'm sure of it

Unfortunately my interweb is down at the mo so I'm looking at this on my phone. The stansion looks ok but those bushes look shot mate. Don't forget there's 2 bushes there so change as a pair.

cheers chris... yeah the legs are fine, no pitting, marks or scratches believe it or not but these didn't look that usable to me... lol

No worries mate. Fairly sure you can only get OE bushes so make sure you're sitting down when you call Robinsons
And as I said there's 2 bushes per leg so change both.

Hello Sparki. Was there any play in the forks before you stripped them. I unfortunately have done dozens of fork legs but never needed to change them bushes. Does it give a service limit in the OMM

Look on the inside of the bush, there's a grey coating if this is damaged or worn away then replace with new bushes. infact the bikes that old that you might aswell put new ones in anyway.
TIP. use the old ones to put the new ones in, extend fork leg then drop the old bush as fast as you can from the top so it acts like reverse slide hammer, you have to hold the leg straight to get the new bush started but once started it will go in fairly easy, make sure it's all the way in before placing the washer then new seal on.

cheers guys... i've never run the bike or ridden it sonot sure on how they were before tbh.... the seals were blown on both as far as i could tell and the oil that came out of them looks to have never neen changed in it's life...lol. some good info here that i'm sure will help in the coming days

I'm another who's not stripped any forks for years...anyone know what size bolt head fits into the damper rod and how much reach is required? Obviously no specialist suzuki tool at hand lol.

If you mean down the fork tube then I use a piece of wood about a metre long and about 15mm square with the end roughly cut to a sort of point. I also rattle gun the bottom bolt out.
Yeah yeah I know, bodge bodge. BUT it's cheaper than the right tool!!!
