no idea if it's ever been opened, if it's greased up etc... do i need to know anything before i open up the final drive on the back wheel and clean-up / re-grease all the bits? do i NEED to open it up if it turns smoothly?
first shaft drive bike and not sure what's needed... thought i'd ask rather than my std gung-ho attitude and screw it up before asking
cheers

Just grease the splines on the drive on the back wheel mate. Not really anything else to do unless there's a problem with a bearing. They do tend to just go and go and go...
