Re: importing....
as xmas approaches, why not look at bike themed toys, seem to be plenty of folk here with model and toy kats, and i cant imagine other one make club members are any different. i bought a few small friction pullback toys a couple of years back and sold them on ebay, didnt make a fortune, but doubled my money. try looking up stuff like chorobike, they have kats listed as gsx1100s rather than kat, so buy them and re list as a uk seller with katana in the tagline, also stuff like rz250 which we got as the lc250 etc, it might make you a few bob, it might not, but nothing ventured. i tink if you plan to break bikes there are only a very few that you will be able to make enough money on as opposed to your outlay, and there are aleady enough folk breaking bikes on the bay, its a crowded market!

Re: importing....
I have imported both bikes and cars from Japan before, thinking of doing another load sometime. Quality of stock and reliability of the supplier are the main issues here in my opinion, unless you have contacts it could be a bit of a gamble.
Katman, where are you based in Sussex?

Re: importing....
You could restore a bike cheaply stick it in a magazine and become a media whore . Don't know where the money comes in though.

Not much of a living there, do it as cheap, devalue the model as everyone will think they can do it for that. you could of course do it cheap don't tell the mags and make something toward that living

Don't bite Pete I am only joking
As for importing stuff, I don't know but wish you all the best in finding a product to make it work
A couple of years ago I bought an Mp3 player off someone with massive feedback and it was cheap. Didn't work though and got no-where with the claim
I know you wouldn't be one of them though

Re: importing....
I must admit that bikes from Japan has tempted me. I look at his site every now and then and dream...
http://topsk.com/
Gag / Monkey / APE bikes go for decent money here and sell well. That Jap site states about $816 US for a RB50 (GSXR50), YSR50 $714, TDR50 $510 (TDR80 sold on Ebay for £1290 recently and Good 50's go for I'd say £1400 and up here).
I saw a Honda Dream 50 at Stafford with a sold sign on it's 5K price tag and that site again had them around $2100 US for Good Condition.
Trouble is I think 20 bikes / half container is the smallest and then you have to give someone your cash and hope everything arrives!
I see 250 Katana Good Condition are $1200 US (which I do fancy but other Kats probably wouldn't make you anything looking at the prices).

Re: importing....
if you want to make money importing exotica then what you need to be selling, if you can actually source it, is 1980s exotic 2 stroke 250s, when the jap factories produced pretty much works race team spec road bikes for their home market, the only other thing, merely because theyve always been sought after and have always been seen as classics, are nc30 400 hondas, the mini rc30, but finding these to sell will be a problem.
Re: importing....
Yahoo auctions are positively bristling with all things exotica
