Hi, will a GSXR750 WP or WR front end go straight in an 1100 Kat frame?

I seem to remember someone commenting that it all starts with one bike, then you end up with a project etc..........well they were right! still intending to do the standard build but may just have a second Kat project on the go too :lol: :lol:

Thanks Pete, I am bidding on some forks and wheels on ebay, but I was trying to find out if the GSXR750 watercooled front ends would go in to a kat frame for a project build. I've heard that GSXR1100 L and M models fit straight on but want to find out if the later watercooled GSXR front ends fit?

Mick, that was my thought too. I wonder how much shorter and whether in real life it would make much difference to the ride

Isn't there some who use screw in extensions to the top of the tube to increase the length, and others that use a stepped yoke - from a 'Blade if I remember, to do the same. Neither sound a perfect solution. Better go for forks the correct length, or as near as.

Any older 750 and 1100 GXXR forks use the same stem lenght like GSX frames and fit straight in. From GSXR 750 SRAD models onwards the stem is longer and needs some lathe work to modify it for the purpose.
Saying that, you need to have in mind that the fork is remarkable wider than standard and will foul the fairing along with its bracketry. A little work is waiting there as well. Also: steering stops and lock.

1100 L/M the best option and they are shorter than standard by about 45mm if I remember right, then factor in that the 17" wheel will lower the front even more. I think the later forks will be way too short.
