Do you do this with the rim where is meets the glass (top) or from underneath? From the top looks easier but trying to get that seated again and look neat I would have thought was pretty hard.

I managed to locate a speedometer from a GX Katana 650 which will fit.
However the trip meter reset knob has broken off. Looking on Google they sell this knob separately for a few pounds. How does the knob fit on? Does the clock have to be taken apart to attach it?
Thanks in advance for any info.

It just pushes on , if it is broken off part of the old one will be still attached over the brass spindle. Good luck.

Oh thanks. Yes, I think can see part of the old one still attached over the brass spindle, but it's recessed inside the hole in the speedometer. Hopefully I'll be able to pick it out with a needle or some such other instrument without breaking anything.

If you take the metal plate of the bottom held on with 2 x 8mm nuts the black surround drops off giving better access.

Here's a pic of the damaged part.
Has the spindle broken off too, or is it still intact and worth trying to fit a new trip meter reset knob?

In the end got it to fit by first removing the 2 nuts holding on the bottom speedometer bracket, followed by the black plastic collar to gain better access to the broken off trip reset knob.
Turns out the knob has a reverse thread and needs to be turned clockwise to unscrew it, which I managed with a small pair of pliers. The new trip reset meter knob screws on anticlockwise.
Now I have a speedometer in MPH rather than KMH, I can finally see after all these years how fast I'm going :geek:
