Well if John does not know what they are - I'm stuffed! FBJ also said similar. They are so bloomin corroded that I may be better getting a standard set any way especially if these are the wrong ones

I had to do a double take when I saw the pics of your 400 when you bought it, what was the choke knob on the bike? it looked like it came off a 1970's gas cooker, i'm glad you're getting the correct parts, I found b and b motorcycles in Lincoln really useful when getting parts for my 250 kat.
:) Well spotted by you. It did look like that, though it looks like someone went to the trouble to turn up a metal one and some custom brass plate on the back. Not sure if that was when it was in Japan or a UK person thinking that getting the part here would be difficult (without checking). Must have taken some time (or maybe it was a cooker knob!)

I'd found that mostly the Suzuki parts are roughly the same price from where ever (though discountsuzukispares are a bit cheaper generally), but I got those from St Neots Suzuki mainly as they also had some NOS GT200 parts I needed, so I thought I would get it all posted at the same time. I'll remember B&B though.

Thanks Pete, think they should be 34mm for the Kat 1100. I think I will keep working on this set for now unless a cheap set comes up :)

I was bored and like a challenge. I thought I would try and work out what your carbs are from. As the choke lever looks original I had a Google and I think the closest I could find were from a 1980 XS1100G. Based on this:

OK this is from a XS750 (triple) but I'm sure the same was on the 1100G for '80.

Carbs exploded diagram from CMSNL

Lastly an image of the side of a XS1100 (best I could find) showing the mechanism.

They might be off something else, but must be about that era. Using CMSNL the next year, the lever looks slightly different.

What do you think?

No probs. Be interesting to see what all the jet sizes are in those carbs. Is yours a 750 or 1100 - can't remember and was your SD an import?

Rob, its an 1100 SD and yes it is an import. I have done a bit of gooloing since you put the XS info up and they do look very similar. The XS1100 had BS34 Mikuni carbs, so maybe someone in the past has put a set on. There was no sidepanels with the bike, so no Kat choke lever. It was also running K&N filters. I am in the process of stripping and cleaning them to see if they are salvageable, so I'll let you know re jet sizes. So far I have only managed to unseize the butterflies and 2 of the 4 slides! Will get there eventually

Got 3 slides free now, stuck with the 4th. Managed to dig a jet out of the filth - 152.5 main.
