Carb settings

Post by Nigelkat » Fri Dec 05, 2014 9:43 pm

Its getting close to getting my café kat project running.

Its not a kat engine but hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction for some base settings.

spec at the moment

Engine is a 98 GSX 750 F Inazuma running Keihin CVK32 carbs marked 03F4
with 105 main jet and pilot screw 2 1/4 turns out.

I`m running an open pipe with pipercross foam pod filters.

Any ideas of where a good point to start would be jet sizes etc.

Also how do you adjust the needle height? there are no slots for raising or lowering as per mikunis I`ve worked on before. :? See pic below

I got some advice from OSS. 120 mains and pilot screws 3 1/2 turns out max.
A starting point ?

Also had an idea with raising the needles, I`ve got a old set of mikunis and thought it might be possible to fit the nylon needle spacers from these under the needles on the Keihins effectively raising them, assuming that they fit do you think that this would work ? looks possible to me... Anyone with any thoughts on this?
cheers

Nige just a thought give Andy at NRP in Manchester a ring ref raising needles, he specialises in all Carbs he'll know , obviously jet sizes in this case are as you state stert somewhere but raising the needles must be a common issue.

Well spoke to NRP and was on the right track with raising the needles, however using the mikuni nylon spacer will take it up to high, 3mm ish he reckons but if I use some aluminium washers that will work and give me options for adjustment.
So will try that along with the larger mains and see what happens.
Cheers again Fossie for that tip.
