Could this be the problem?
Went out with Tam yesterday , her on the GS 125. Myself on the pop up.
Although the GS cut out once. It started with a bump no worries, We encountered heavy traffic and the GS started to smoke a bit ...a lot really.
Anyway she persevered
When we got home I took it round the block ....hmmm sounds tapetty...
Bugger feeler gauges on lone.....
So tonight took inspection covers off ready for when gauges get here...
Exhaust.. Inlet So that'll do it ..right.?
Fair play to Tam for getting it home suspect not the smoothest journey eh?

Re: Could this be the problem?
Well took rocker cover off...which involves top engine mounting aswell..........no joy not present.
Turned engine over by hand a few times but there was no interference .
Drained oil no sump as such on these bikes. Just a plate and strainer..........no way for anything that large to get in there.
So took engine out turned it upside down and shock it. Clunk clink. A screw and lock nut on the floor.
So after checking the threads on the rocker which seem in order....
Tomorrow I will be mostly ordering an alternator gasket just because the timing mark isn't visible through the tiny aperture so will do it with alt cover off. O ring for strainer ...front sprocket. Mainly. Because I hadn't looked before. Oh dear. And the inner o ring for the rev counter drive. Because while the rockets off I may as well sort that ....every cloud eh?
So hopefully all should be well next week........these old school engines are strong....proper engines. How did it run with the valves not opening ?

Was she following you? could have been 'sucked' along in your slip stream ?
I had a CB100n once, after sliding along the road one day found the previous owner had put a new piston in, but they didn't bother to take the broken one out of the gearbox
