mixture screws. 1/4 to 1/2 turns out is about right if you have the correct pilot jet for your application.

How long did you wait before you drained the float bowls? Might well be that some of the fuel just vaporised before you did.
If your carbs let fuel go through into the inlet ports in large amounts it's very likely some of it will find its way into the oil. But as long as the oil level is unsuspicious - who cares?
I'd be more concerned of large amounts of fuel not finding it's way into the oil, staying in the combusion chamber unnoticed. Push the start button then and the engine is hydraulically blocked - very bad that is.

just pull the plugs and spin it on the starter with some rags over the plug holes.

Yup... Usually would give it a few heat cycles then a decent blat for 20 miles. Come home, drop the oil and retorque the head. Def needs re torquing

all can be done in place... what make is the base gasket in there... looks green and very non oem :-/ - just mention as oem gaskets are cheap and good for the base

shoulda said... to re-torque the head... loosen each nut off half a turn and then re-torque... don't just re-torque them in their present position ;)

np - hopefully a re-torque will sort it out. if not i'd give it back to the builder to sort.

All easy enough... Just be a little more gentle :) - Oem base is piss cheap yeah and best quality tbh. Only pia is getting the slugs back in the holes after the gaskets changed :-/
