tyres
I'm sure there was a thread here somewhere extolling the virtues of various tyres for the original skinny wheels... buggered if I can find it now though.
So... millions of years ago I used Metz, and liked them, but technology has moved on (I hope) grip more important than longevity - so, what's the best at the mo?
ta muchly.

Re: tyres
I've had avon roadriders on for the last 16 months and they seem ok. Can't comment on wet weather performance though as I have no need to ride in the rain.
Think the other contender is Bridgestone....not sure of the number.

Re: tyres
Bt45. Were designed for this era machine. Probably the best all rounder with decent longevity of about 8000 miles before. Getting to legal limit.
Metz are still available. But called metzelar laser tec me33 front and 99 rear.
Avon road riders are ok for the money. Last ok. But I personally don't rate then in wet weather at all. The tread pattern is the same front and rear. Just put on reverse ...wierd .

Re: tyres
I run winter tyres on my car, which are not available V rated in the size I use.
I'm moving house to a very rural location and considered getting some offroad capable tyres... one of the places we're looking at is down a long track. They are available in the correct size for the Kat, but only seem to be H rated... is it actually legal to fit them?

Re: tyres
I'd go for BT45's as well... but...
...I see from CMM this month (as they have a tyres feature) that Metzler have just released a new tyre (January 2015) for the 70's, 80's and 90's bikes - the Sportec klassic - http://www.metzeler.com/site/uk/product ... assik.html.
That might be worth a look at due to the fact it is newly designed rather than a continuation of an older tyre.
Be interested if someone does try them out, as I would probably go for those, if I needed new ones at the moment.
