Decals
Decals
Hi,
Just had the GSX1100EZ bodywork back from the painters but I think they've used the wrong decals.
The ones they have put on are red while I think they should be orange.
I know it's not the Katana but I wondered if the Kat ones are red or if anyone knows the correct colour before I have a moan at them!
Cheers,
Andy

Re: Decals
Thanks Pete,
Pulled out a spare tank from the shed and the EZ definitely is orange so I'll see how I get on with the painter.
Thanks for the link as well - interesting colour options!

Re: Decals
Still trying to figure this one out! The painter checked with the decal supplier who are certain there is only one decal set for the GSX1100EZ but this is definitely different in many areas to the originals.
I managed to get original Suzuki tank decals but even these are far more red than the originals. I'm wondering if Suzuki changed the colour for these but kept the same part code and colour description maybe.
Do the Katanas have sunday orange decals on any models and if so are these 'orange'?
Or is it me.......
Cheers,
Andy

Re: Decals
looking at pics of the gsx1100ez on google explains how some katanas have the wrong tank stickers put on them, the ez ones are smaller and a bit more red in colour, if you look on a katana the decals are larger but not orange, they are a kind of red/orange mix.
Re: Decals
It's a real pain to try and sort out I must admit. I guess it's not a very popular model so there aren't many good examples to compare or a wealth of restorers knowledge.
I had two full bodywork sets (one now repainted incorrectly but very nicely!) and both look decidedly orange and not very faded so I'm pretty sure the colour should be more orange than anything I can find in terms of decals.
Pookie - you're right as well, the EZ decals are different size and pattern to other 'similar' Suzuki models which I think is also causing confusion. I guess the decal guys all have ones for 1100E or ES or ESD etc. models which are all definitely red and larger and also have slightly different typesetting but look initially quite similar.
Guess I'll have to decide how crucial it is to be 'correct' in all aspects as the only option left seems to be a full repaint of the bodywork with someone like Dream Machine copying and matching the decals on the original bodywork set I've still got.
Cheers

Re: Decals
Hi
Had a quick look at this and found the following on cms-nl
http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gsx1100-198 ... ml#results" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Looking at the colour chart at the start of the parts slides it would suggest, as Pete has said, the colour would be Sunday Orange
Jarno's site gives a little info on the EZ
http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-series/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
From cms-nl:
Emblem(orange) Gsx1100 1982 (ez)The 681114440005F Emblem(orange) can be ordered. Fits the Suzuki Gsx1100 1982 (ez). 68111-44400-05F is the manufacturercode
Either do a search for the part number or get in contact with Robinsons Foundary, Crooks Suzuki, or Franco's Parts Direct to see if they are available.
Although as cms-nl list them a 9 Euros it might be just as well ordering from them. they add vat and postage and your bank/credit card may want to add a bit for generously turning sterling into euros
Good luck and don't forget to chuck a few photo's into the thread, 'cos we like photos
.....and who said we only like Kats on here
