Exhaust fitting

Just spent the last 4 1/2 hours cleaning, fettling and refitting the exhaust on my XN which included a new old stock silencer. It really is a complicated and heavy part being as they stuck the turbo where the sun don't shine.

All that time spent and using a bike ramp, it was actually a pleasure to do the job properly and not one expletive escaped from my lips. If I had been crawling around on the floor doing the job I would have gone insane.

Bike ramps - " I commend them to the house " ! :lol:

The NOS silencer is actually as loud as the old made up bean can affair that came off , but if you stick your finger up it ("ooooh errrr") all the exhaust noise goes and you can hear how sweet the motor is :P :P :P :P and it looks way better too.

I've been in touch with a company that will ceramic coat the stainless down pipes, these can be polished to look very much like black chrome. . . . . I'm awaiting a further response from them.

MOT tomorrow which should not be a problem at all, then its up to Mold on friday :P :P :P

russ,

have you got the heat shield, the bolt holes (as you prob realise) are straight through to pipe an zorst "leaks" if not fitted or blocked

i know preaching to converted

that pipe from collector to turbo is an absolute nightmare ???

The heatshield on the collector or the silencer ?

With the bike up high on the ramp that collector was the easiest part to fit :D

The shield that should be on the cast collector is missing but must be on my spare bike as its untouched, the heatshield on the silencer only uses one bolt/screw as the other end has a strap around it, although there are 2 threaded holes.

Not too bothered about an odd little hole down low as it blows out all the condensation, the clamping slots cut into the silencer actually have a "hole" drilled at the end of the slot which should not be pushed over the down pipe that comes from the turbo outlet for that very reason.

Mr MOT man took my £20 and says its all fine and dandy, so looking forward to the run up and a fab weekend now ! :P :P :P :P
