Pricing...

Post by KatRider » Tue Apr 19, 2011 9:33 pm

Hi guys,

I have a friend who's been offered a Katana 1100 supersport 1982 Inc a spare good cyl head.

Assuming the bike is fair condition all round... What would you expect pricing to be?

Just looking for info to help him make his mind up.

Cheers

depends on what he wants to do with it and what original bits it still has. if he wants to just ride it then probably fbj's prices arent too far off the mark. however, if he wants a minter, then there are some specific parts that he needs to be aware are expensive to get if he hasnt got them. original 150mph clocks (not kph) stock exhausts, stock rear shocks, original wiring loom, switchgear, original seat. most of the bodywork is still available new or pattern, but these bits are getting harder to source, and if he wants to get it something like stock, he might want to bear this in mind when he starts haggling.
remember also, that 1100 kats whilst not exactly common, arent rare either, so he neednt be too keen to pay over the odds for one in case he never sees another, cos there are enough still turning up on ebay and in the clasifieds for it still to just about be a buyers market.

but a tidy 1100 head with cams is still worth 100-150 quid due to the ages of these bikes and the diminishing stocks of spares generally available. i know there are some on ebay priced at over 200 quid, but we live down here in the real world, and the reality is that you will always sell an 100 head for the money im saying they are worth, whilst the dear ones keep appearing on eba and not selling. why? are you buying or selling one?
carbs, well, it depends on condition, tatty sets start at 25 quid, its thou slides, efe and gixxer ones that folk want.
