It might not be as quick but soak your rusty fasteners in neat vinegar for a couple of days and the results look like your banjo bolt. Put it in a container with a lid though as it's a bit wiffy. I did also try coca cola but vinegar is way quicker and not so sticky

I've used vineger before and not bad but I was inprested with this stuff. ;)
