Engine in bits, rings seized up Looking for new set. However, I noticed there was a slight sideways "rocking " movement in all for con rods, but could not feel any up and down movement.
Should I be worried?

Re: Compression
Crank it over with the plugs out to blow all the shit out the cylinders.
Be carefull, it gets messy and can catch fire if the plug leads decide to spark while doing this (don't ask me how I know) , best to disconnect the ECU or crank pickup connector first.
Do a comp test and check the readings.
If they are low, stick a couple of squirts of oil down the bores and do it again, if the results improve considerably then you have a piston ring issue.
Then you have choices but it will involve a top end strip.
Skel.
