650 voltage

Post by jmac » Wed Aug 30, 2017 1:53 pm

According to the book, my 650 should be putting out 14-15.5 volts at 5,000rpm. In reality it's putting out 11.07(just).
Apart from flog it or wheel it out and set fire to it, any constructive suggestions. Wussey Kat could depend on this.

First thing to do is set multi meter to resistance, then stick probes into each of the alternator wires and they should read 0 or as little as possible. This proves all the windings are still a constant winding.

The reg rec is under the battery box make sure the alternator is plugged into the wires direct and the green/ white wire is joined to it rather than the headlamp switch wire.

Make sure the reg/ reg Earth is very clean and direct to battery.

Next ... Tax pop up or shark!

Or continue the dismemberment of your German one, and Nick the alternator and reg rec
