Hi Ash
have you checked that the CCT is working properly and hasnt been locked off ?
it wont tbe the first time that's happened
Suzuki Tensioners from that era are bullet proof ..they can be stripped down and refurbed if the oil seal fails.
Theyre not like a gixxer CCT that falls apart and rattles on the over run.
i stripped mine down and had all the bits re-zinc plated so it ( used to) looked like a new one!
I bet all the old girl needs is a new CC fitting with a soft link......Oh and the carbs balancing up.......done many in my time without any problems or come backs. Wouldnt recommend a split chain if you are going drag racing or if using on a Big CC motor.
Try turning the motor over by the ignition side of the crank by hand to take up all the slack and then turn the engine the wrong way and you should see the CCT move to take up the slack. if it doesnt tmove it may be jammed up like bob Marly!
If it is ......Lock the CCT off and remove it and see if its still working correctly.
