Hi,
Oil seems to be leaking from the left-hand front fork, either from on top and/or further down (see photo). There are spatters of oil reaching the petrol tank. The other fork is ok.
Anyone know what's wrong? Is this an easy fix and something I could do at home, or will it require fork removal and the services of a bike shop?
Thanks in advance.
For some reason the image won't display in the post, so I uploaded it here:

You are going to have to drop that leg no matter what.
The oil can only be coming from the threads , there is a rubber seal around it.
Could be a leaking seal with oil passing up the leg. But doubt ful.

Thanks.
Well in the end the shop replaced 2 seals in the fork.
The flow of oil was greatly reduced but there's a still a very small seep, maybe a drop a day.
Don't know what else to try really.

I'm assuming this oil is as before on the tank..if so it can't really be fork seals .
Do you have the black rubber caps over the adjusters on the fork tops. It won't stop the leak but would mask it or rule the edge of The adjuster out.
As I referred to before I'd be inclined to change the caps again to rule it out .
I may have a set you can borrow just to rule it out if required .

Hi Fossie,
The oil is not coming out enough to reach the tank, as it was before.
Just a thin smear/seep at the top of the forks. It's very little, but still there. May or may not get through an MOT if I wipe it off just before.
I have new rubber caps on the top of the forks.
Is it possible to remove that big nut at the top of the forks with the forks still in the yolks and put some sort of thread sealing compound like plumbers use for leaky threads?
