Anyhoos my ignition and seat lock keys seem totally different to the lock fitted to the steering and they won’t go anywhere near. So the big question is where there different keys supplied when the bike was supplied new?

Re: Steering lock
Maybe I've been lucky but every bike I've owned has been one key fits all.

Re: Steering lock
On the 1100/1000/750 one key (originally) did the ignition, seat and helmet lock. There is a different key for the steering lock that is mounted on the head stock. I have attached an image of the 2 keys - Nicky does your ignition key fit your steering lock on the 1100 - I thought they were different?
The steering lock key is a bit of a "funny" shape. Anyway on my silver 1100 it didn't come with a key for it. I bought a new steering lock and key set (from Robinson's when they had one of their 20% off days). To fit it if you don't have the key, requires pulling the interference fit pin out that holds the little cover on, then drilling out the barrel and extracting the old lock, then just fitting the new one. Have to admit I took mine to the bike guy who I will let work on my 1100, and I stripped off tank etc while there (to minimise chances of damage) and he drilled out and fitted the new one.
The silver / maroon 1100 I just bought does come with one of each key, so I need copies made and i was wondering where I could get the steering lock key from as it is a different shape.

Re: Steering lock
Yes looking at mine the steering lock key is the single sided version shown in UB’s photo. Is the key number stamped on the lock barrel somewhere?

Re: Steering lock
I'll try Timpsons, thanks Fossie.
Paul - If you don't have the key then the only way to take the barrel out is to drill it out and fit a new one. You can I believe only remove the barrel if you have a key (or a key that will turn it) - I went through this with mine. A new lock with 2 keys isn't that expensive - Robinsons do them for just over £20+VAT.
