Rear sets and Marvin exhaust
Rear sets and Marvin exhaust
I'm a new owner of an old Katana 1100 that needs a few upgrades from its 1990's mods , first I need to replace the front footrests back to standard , are these parts specific to one model or can I get these from another bike? Currently fitted with Raask rear sets .
Also thinking of swapping the exhaust for something shorter and shinier like a Harris ,Marvin or Vance and Hinse drag type , any recommendations.?
This could be just the start of a spring makeover before it gets a good seeing to, but if it doesn't float my boat it can go .

Foot pegs are specific . Exhaust , well depends, what you want to spend and want . Grumpy1260 is a breaker on eBay who was a club member but can be seen as the resident mechanic in performance sportsbikes magazine does Vince and Hines systems. Not cheap to some ...( me ) but acceptable to others.
Jama, ( Marshall) are fine but not flash enough for some . Harris is now a replica, but fits the period mods you have.
The above have access to sump plug.

Mines fitted with a Jarma. 4-1 which considering I don’t like them on any bike is ok ish. The center stand is still on and best of all it’s nice and quiet compared to some of the shrieking exhausts you hear on modern sports bikes nowadays ( I know I’m an old fart
)
There rubbish them Jap bikes lad they won't last five minutes! you want to get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!

Re: Rear sets and Marvin exhaust
footpegs are specific to the kat and there are two types depending on whether you have an sz (rubber pegs) or and sd(top rubber, bottom ally) raasks are period rearsets and are famous for being about three times the weight of stock pegs! some performance aid hey! but, they should sell easily enough as folks are always looking for rearsets that dont require any mods to the frame..
Re: Rear sets and Marvin exhaust
Thanks for the replies guys , I'm not too sure which model bike I have but I'll keep an eye out for some standard footrest parts and a shorter exhaust too, I tried some different higher bars yesterday but the hoses are too short and the bars looked too high above the screen.
Re: Rear sets and Marvin exhaust
Going to wait until we get some better weather and give the bike a bit of a run but I've now had my head turned by the GSX1100e on eBay that might suit me better , only thing is the 5k asking price which I think is 1k too much .
If anybody wants my bike I would be happy to get my money back ,failing that I'll try to improve it .
