i dont post on acs. so i cant comment too much. but there have always been folks who have sought desperately to hoard parts at any cost. i know this sounds like the pot calling the kettle black here, but in my defence, i always offer stuff that im after selling to the club members first rather than punting it into the wider world for the maximum profit. and as many folks here will teestify, i more often than not give parts to members, or at least sell them for what they cost me. i know the frame chris has, cos it came from me and he has only had it a few weeks, and i advertised it here first for members at members rates! i suppose as parts get scarce, any collection of good stuff, (and most of the stuff he has is very good stuff) will create a feeding frenzy amongst those who would tread on anyone to get what they want. but after being shafted by an acs member when i had already done a deal on an efe engine a few years back, and he swooped in by turning up at the sellers house before i got there with a wedge of cash, my opinion is, fuck the lot of em, and the fucking horse they rode in on.
another reason why i like this club and this forum rather than going to a facebook based site.

Blix wrote:I know you’ve always spoken your mind John and I appreciate that, my own opinion isn’t that that different to be honest, in fairness I have had some useful information from there in the past couple of months so I’ll leave it at that.

Firstly though I have no issue with Chris selling his stuff and I know he did offer it on here as well so I hope he gets what he’s looking for, personally I think £1600 is a bit steep for a 750 in bits but that is my opinion only and I’m sure you could sell the individual bits for that sort of amount if you could be arsed with 200 eBay adverts.

It will be interesting to see that if someone does assemble all the bits just how much the 750 will have increased in value according to the builder as I’m fairly sure we’ll see it again in one form or another.

I paid £850 for mine in 2010 with the original exhausts, I’m well out of touch with prices obviously
dont get me wrong, ive no issue with chris selling his stuff. he told me before he listed it a week or so back. and ive no issues with that, or his prices. tbh, who doesnt want the best price for their stuff. its just that acs is everyone for themself and the devil take the hindmost, and thats not my cup of tea, which is why i dont bother with the place. i keep my sales for within the club for the most part. and indeed, it seems that a kat club member has bought this bike off chris, so fingers crossed, the new owner will be popping his had over the parapet any time now.

All of the above comments are valid. I personally have never visited the ACS site of any other for that matter, not because I am a snob but because my patience level doesn't allow me to scroll for more than a minute.
So basically I can see this from a neutral point. So what I deduce is ....FB sites are open to everyone who don't know each other and know they never will, thus there is no camaraderie . So when someone writes rare, panic breaks out ....just in case better buy it now!
This would also account for prices we struggle to get to grips with.
As for selling stuff at higher prices ,,well if it was offered to club members first but there was no takers because we know another will along later, well get the best you can.
If the parts are in the way or can't be stored rather than hoard' it is better they are found a new home.
Hopefully the next keeper will be along on here ....where he will be amongst the camaraderie.

Yes, it is me selling the 750 project. I did put it here first. I also checked with John first about selling the frame as part of the project. I have two frames and decided to keep the SD one for my project because it is in good order and silver.
I have had all sorts of stupid offers and comments trying to get me to sell the best bits and have ignored or rebuked them. It had sold at one point tonight but unfortunately the buyer had to pull out so its back up for sale. I agree that £1600 is top end of value, but it is likely to go for less. I dropped the price on here to £1500 before doing the FB thing.
I would not sell it if I didn't need the cash to finish my other bikes, one of which being the kat project.
I do try to be fair with anything I have bought from someone I know.

the reality is that chris wants to own every kat ever sold in thee uk, so has a constantly revolving door of bikes coming in and going out. till hes had them all.. i do keep trying to stop him becoming an obsessive hoarder and be more restrained and minimalist like me, but he takes no attention...

pot - kettle

most stuff just seems to move between freckleton and lathom and back

and for the record, I have agreed the sale of the 750 project with my SD frame instead of the SZ frame :)

The angle grinder will be meeting your old frame shortly John

If we’re being honest I have no issue with anyone asking what they think something is worth. If someone wants it and pays then great... I sell stuff to fund other projects and parts etc... if I sell for less than I could then I’m screwing myself as I’m not about to retire in the few extras£ but it will help with my next purchase. I sell stuff to buy other stuff... I’m not going to sell it for £10 if someone will pay £20. I’m sorry if that makes me sound a tight fucker I don’t care... if I know the person that’s a different story, and a lot on the ACS FB Page do, price will be reflected accordingly. I’ve been helped on there and if I can help in return I will
