Re: Carb woes!
i think the black is a non stick coating to allow the slides to freely move up and down. as for cleaning it off, id be tempted to remove any loose flakes but not go too far to town on removing it all.

Re: Carb woes!
Thanks for the reply John, I thought it might be some sort of none stick and I’ve also done exactly what you said in just removing loose bits.johnr wrote:i think the black is a non stick coating to allow the slides to freely move up and down. as for cleaning it off, id be tempted to remove any loose flakes but not go too far to town on removing it all.

Re: Carb woes!
thinking about it, the coating is more likely to reduce wear on the carb bodies and slides than it is to help them slide shut better.

Re: Carb woes!
Well it looks like I’ve sorted my carb problems
I bolted everything up this morning and she fired up and ran a treat. It even needed choke to start which is summat it’s never done since I’ve owned it! A quick blast to check everything was ok and apart from needing to turn the tickover down after I had turned it up when I started it from cold she ran like a clock. Just got to do an oil & filter change now and we’re ready for the good weather
