just evict your children and then keep your spares in their bedroom, that way you can keep it warm with a radiator and tuck it in snuggly at night......

i only keep new stuff in the house, stuff that i want to protect from the possibility of rusting away like exhausts and shockers.

I’ve got the rolling chassis and all the chrome work off my T500 in our small bedroom, the radiator is just on so the room is nicely aired and the bike is covered in clean white bath towels

Storing stuff just to add value just in case........
keeping spares to use when yours wears out , that makes sense.....
But storing an exhaust just in case you sell your Kat so it will increase the resale value what utter bollox !
You are never going to sell your Kats
so enjoy the zorsts

As I was writing my reply, I was thinking of the man who had 3 scott oilers, a spare set of Bandit carbs just lurking about, and on a tidy up finds 2 engines he had forgotten about!johnr wrote:storing unused motorcycle components in the loft is ridiculous, i dont know why anyone would do such a thing

Re: Fitting the standard exhaust system
Have to disagree! I think most of us have spare parts for some reason and for replacing worn out parts for every single item we have is debatable. I agree with you that the bikes are for riding and not investment (I hate that), but nothing is forever and when the time comes to sell then I'm going to want to get the best price I can to be honest (like we all would I guess, or we'd give them away).fossie wrote:Storing stuff just to add value just in case........keeping spares to use when yours wears out , that makes sense.....

The pipes were on the bike when I got it but I prefer the Eagle 4 into 1 which I bought. I wouldn't have bought a 4 into 2 (if the bike had come with a 4 into 1) for the reason to increase resale value but I have a set because I wanted the Eagle and they got replaced and I really don't need the money selling them would raise, so better to keep for now.

Re: Fitting the standard exhaust system
Well I’ve finally fitted the std exhaust! A total swine of a job and I picked the hottest day of the year to do it as well
Anyhoos I’m really please as I hate 4-1 systems and the bike now looks like a Kat.

Re: Fitting the standard exhaust system
Hi Paul, did you restore the exhausts yourself and what coating did you use. Also you say you fitted new clamps, can I ask where did you get them and how much. The reason I ask is the middle two are missing. Hang on a minute if you have fitted new one's does that mean you have some old one's for sale

Re: Fitting the standard exhaust system
Hi, no I didn’t restore the zorsts myself they come with the bike. It was fitted with a 4-1 as I bought it and the standard system complete with clamps come with the rest of the spares. The finish is some sort of gloss heat proof paint which marks quite easily. I did buy the woven steel seals from classic Suzuki spares. I might have a pair of old clamps if your stuck?
There is a company where I live who have coated a set of exhausts for a friend with excellent results.

Re: Fitting the standard exhaust system
Thanks for that Paul, I'll have a look at the cost of getting them coated they are in very good condition just a bit of rust in places so they may just get cleaned up the best I can to keep cost down a bit
If you could have a look for the clamps that would be great, it is just the middle two that I need. Hopefully then I can make a bit of progress and get this thing finished.
