After nearly freezing in August at EK6 (it was Wales) and ending up with all my mootrcycle gear on!!! I realised that the cheap inflatable air bed I had from Millets was lettings the cold in from the ground.
So since then I have invested in a more expensive Thermarest one which is insulated from the ground and have been fine. At EK7 I lend the Nephew the cheap one and have a nice picture of him with all his gear on and my jacket over him as well as he was cold, which was my revenge for letting me drink too much Katana oil.
May I got was similar to this one:

The cheap one was like this:

Re: Sleeping mat
I bought a Klymit "Insulated Static V" mat for the Donnington Endurance Legends weekend a couple of years back. It was good but I'm not that good at sleeping on the floor these days.
I used a Thermarest camp bed/cot at EK8 and it was a lot better, but took a lot of space up in the 2 person tent.
The Klymit I got is no longer available and Jeff B's emporium suggests an alternative for the ever so slightly hilarious £378.99.

Re: Sleeping mat
I bought a quick assemble bed off ebay. It’s a canvas base which two poles slide through and then four bent crossbars form the feet. It keeps you six inches off the floor and is comfy and warm with your sleeping bag on top
Folds up small and weighs nowt.

or this:
