always worth filling a freshly built or unknown engine with cheap oil for its first fire up, run it upto operating temp, then drop the oil into a clean container and have a look whats come out before fitting a new filter and filling it with the proper stuff.

That’s the plan John, I’ve got some cheapo 10/40 mineral all ready to go in. I was going to give it half a dozen 5min runs and let it cool down in between. I’m thinking of leaving the exhaust off while I do this so I can whip the sump off when it’s drained and have a proper mooch about before I refit it and refill with the good stuff.

If I remember correctly , it was more to do with people chucking brake discs etc at me....fun though!
