Carbs balanced and she’s running like a Swiss watch :D I’m going to put up with my poor efforts at painting the repair on the cowl until she goes into hibernation then I’ve got to talk a mate who is a genius with paint into doing the job properly.
Now where’s that bloody sunshine gone

Well I’ve clocked up just over 500 miles since the rebuild so it’s time to re-torque the cylinder head, check the valve clearances, fit four new exhaust gaskets and fit a new Motobatt battery. So that’s it I’ve finished spending now, if owt else goes wrong I’m setting fire to the bitch

Oi, mine doesn’t smoke anymore :D :D :D
Too true well done - I might well be asking for advice on that fix in the near future...
That was NE in relation to me (out East), not geographically, of course.

Well some good news at last
Poking my mag light down the camchain tunnel I spied my dropped 7mm bolt nestling safely in the chain, a quick fish around with my magnet doofer and it was safely retrieved 8-)
I’ll leave it for now until my new valve cover gasket arrives and then set about getting the sheared off bolt out.

this is why you never throw out old towels and tee shirts, they all get cut up here and used as rags to block stuff and cover stuff thats being worked on. as a considerably younger man, i did the same with a bolt on a gs1000, me and two friends removed all the bodywork and dropped the oil, then we bodily picked it up and turned it upside down before shaking it till the bolt dropped out onto the old carpet we used in the garage back then. must have made some sight!
