There's a slow oil leak from the gear shift mechanism (see attached photo).
Does anyone know what needs doing to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

2 possible seals.
1 gear-lever Imput shaft, unfortunately engine out for this one , sits inside bottom crankcase , relatively easy to sort , but requires splitting crankcases . ( wipe occasionally and forget method is best in this case.)
The second possible is gear indicator o ring, much easier but don't lose the little spring and ball bearing. 2 screws it pulls off o ring outer area .
However if I possible that the shaft output seal is damaged , it sits under that rubber boot. Undo that large clamp in look inside the gaiters, it should be dry.

Thanks Fossie.
I looked on my parts microfiches for the bike, but couldn't be 100% sure which were the correct o-rings and seals to order.
You wouldn't happen to know their part numbers?
Or do bike repair shops generally keep a stock of generic o-rings and seals etc so it's not necessary for me to order them in advance from Suzuki if I take the bike in for repair?
Thanks in advance.

Nowadays bike shop keep nowt! If you phone Robinsons they will go through the microfiche with you .
In all honesty for o rings like these genuine one may be a better bet, they will be correct as opposed to is clos enough , only to find when reassembled....no it ain't!

Suzuki use some weird size “0” rings, I try and buy stuff like oil seals and bearings from my local bearing factors because I’m a tightwad and they supply top quality gear (you don’t imagine Suzuki make their own do you?) however I’ve made the mistake in the past of buying “0” rings only to find they are correct in outside diameter only to find the section diameter is usually too big?
There rubbish them Jap bikes lad they won't last five minutes! you want to get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!

Well, I just had a new seal (part no 09285-12002) fitted on the bike. Apparently they had to also remove the clutch cover to help gain access to the seal which complicated things. Also took the opportunity to replace the 2 small gaiters on the gear shifting mechanism which had seen better days.
Fingers crossed that's fixed it. Will monitor it.

Well fair play , it isn't always easy to get to the shaft seal through the clutch cover side because stuff is chewed or too tight....
