EFE motor mount question
Hi all, I have an 82 1000 and was thinking of dooing the EF motor swap. Question, is that 1135 a direct swap? Or do I need to weld now motor mounts and take out the old ones?
Thanks all, I have seen a few mangled 1100's over the years, I should have grabbed up.

Re: EFE motor mount question
Thanks, I thought I read that somewhere here, I was worried because the later EF setups had square frame tubes.

Re: EFE motor mount question
same mounts, efe has rubber front mounts to counter vibration, but they still fit, you will need the carbs and also the efe cdi as the efe has its advance and retard done electronically whereas the kat motor adv/ret is mechanical bobweights.

Re: EFE motor mount question
Pretty sure when i put one in my EZ (millions of years ago so hazy
) but I simply used al of the original mounting plates, etc.
One thing you will need to sort is to re-gear otherwise the std earlier set-up will be far too low.....

Re: EFE motor mount question
Cool, thanks, now I just need to find one. I plan on going Mikuni RS for the carbs.

1135 sprocket cover will not clear the Kat frame unless you shave off a bit. Or take the Kat engine cover.

Re: EFE motor mount question
bandit 1200 engine will make more power, be more tunable fit the frame and cost you less. nothing wrong with an efe engine, but you need deep pockets for one now.

Re: EFE motor mount question
Thanks JohnR, I'm going to take my time, I kinda really want the EFE motor due to my love for the GS1150, I think here in the US they are not that rare, I see GS1100's in ok condition go for 1500 dollars or so, I figure I can ebay the rest of the carcas to make up that cost. I think Bandit's go for more here and are pretty rare.

Re: EFE motor mount question
I know this isn't the EFE, but when they come up they are in the same bucket.

I'm not sure if it's the same there, but every skinny jean wearing kid half my age couldn't give a crap about early 80s Asian iron, they all want single cam spoked wheels under 400cc "cafe racers". So that leaves the EFE with the same lust appeal as a used lazy boy recliner from the same era.
