Hello from Bath

Hi everyone
I've had a GSX1000SZ since 1990 which was much loved & regularly used until stuff intervened & it became increasingly neglected. It eventually ended up as a project for some unspecified future & has been garaged for nearly a decade. Well, a combination of covid, being evicted from the garage, & other things has finally made me realise the time for the project has arrived. Today I'm celebrating getting it started so hopefully I'll be riding it again pretty soon.

Any insurance tips gratefully received. At the moment it's in a corner of someone's workshop but can't be kept there once I've got it moving & I'm currently without access to a lockable garage which seems to be a sticking point for what I've seen so far.

Also, if anyone has a solution (other than forking out for a new one) for when one of the little plastic pegs from those top fairing side covers has snapped off & got lost, I'd be glad to hear it.

Welcome to the madhouse, sorry I can’t help with the insurance, as you say they all want the bike garaged overnight. Maybe park it in a mates/neighbours garage?

Welcome from Mancunia which looks like a bath at the moment ....but without a spa or definatley Royal assent !
The Insurance thing I can see a problem without a garage if you are to insure it as project ie: laid up etc . Less so if you are just registering it as road vehicle rather than a classic , but obviously the premium will b premium in comparison.
Which side of Bath are you?
We have members around there , and someone may know someone . A member is more likely to help a member if they know where.
The lug thing isn't to much of a problem anymore , replacement panels are readily available and plastic welding has come on leaps and bounds in recent years.

Thanks Fossie that's very helpful. My Gran lived in Northenden & I've got some memories of sunny days in the park (Wythenshawe I guess) - so long ago the weather must have been very different back then.

I'm hoping everything continues to go swimmingly & to register it for use. I'm in Oldfield Park (south of the river). I've got my name down on a waiting list for a garage in an area half a mile or so away from where I live which I'm nervous about tbh. I could just about squeeze a kat-sized shed in my front 'garden'. Would that count as a 'garage' do you think? It'll be pretty secure as it's a bugger to manoeuvre in & out of the gate.

Hi Rick, why not put the Kat in your living room? It's one of the best industrial designs ever, up there with the Barcelona chair by Rohe and the Charlie by van der Berg. Such a thing of beauty conceived by Müth, one of the grandmasters of German industrial design, is always going to be the centre of attention!
