1000 Engine removal

Post by Bikeazoid » Sat Oct 10, 2020 8:39 pm

Hi all, I am trying to remove the engine from my 82 1000 Katana. I think I removed all the motor mount bolts, exhaust and axel.

Question, do I need a jack or something else to get it out. It still seems pretty darn in there.

Thanks all.

youve removed the little mounts under the crankcase at the front? the one at the back under the sprocket cover? easiest way to get them out is to take the bodywork off and put something soft on the floor then lay the bike on its side and lift the bike off the engine.

JohnR, that did it, thanks for the tips.

My Kat has 52k (miles) and I'm getting the feeling the pevious owner wasn't much into maintaining this thing.

I doubt it Blix, it's got 50k Miles on the clock. When I took off the chain it had that old clip on master link too.

If not original then a genuine Suzuki replacement.
