Ebay

Post by Smallkat » Fri Dec 11, 2020 7:54 pm

I wanted to bid on a used headlamp shell for my X7 project, but the seller's photo's were a bit blurry. I messaged him and asked for better pics. He posts them and puts up the opening bid from £19.99 to £39.99.

Needless to say, I didn't bid and neither did anyone else. So he relists at same price for another 7 days, still no takers. Today he relists at £24.99, which I would have paid before, but now he can get stuffed. I will mend a cracked one before I buy off him!

Glad I've got that off my chest.

Yep. There are some bandits out on Ebay! I like the ones the who fail to sell something for a high price and then re-list at an even higher price.

From the perspective of a seller, there are a few naff buyers out there as well though.

I have a listing that specifically states "do not be a Richard Head, measure your old part before you buy this" and still I get the "this doesn't fit" emails.

I found some gsxr1100 forks on ebay I wanted to stick on my Kat, I messaged the seller to see if I could pick them up since they are in the same city as me and avoid the 75 smacker shipping fee.

That was a week ago, never heard back :(

He was probably hoping to make an extra few dollars on the shipping. Or sick with Covid? I couldn't get out of bed when I had it.

I sold a pair of non Kat GSX forks recently. Listed at a very good price, like much lower than any others at the time. But because I used WeEvil Bay shipping calculator, that was nearly £30!

Got asked by an Ebayer if I would sell him just the fork tops.

Weighed up the forks for postage and it came out a lot cheaper than eBay's calculation.

So he got the fork tops, still attached to the forks :D
