I don't know why they always seem to use screws made of chocolate, the things are more greath than they are worth.I thought i would try and get one of the little plastic bottle type ones with a screw on lid to replace it.There's plenty of room around where the res is sited.
Katgeezer said that there is a breakers fairly near in Greenwich by the tunnel. So i'm going to take the res with me and see if i can get one thats similar (bracket/angle of the pipe).

Thanks for the offer,i'll keep it in mind as i could well draw a blank at the breakers.

It has now been replaced with a round plastic type with a srew cap,so with a bit of luck it should be gorilla proof

All i need to do now is bleed it all.I tried earlier and didnt get any pressure but ran out of time :(
I will try again tomorrow

HHHHHEEEELLLPPPP!!!!!

This job is now driving me mad
I have been trying to bleed these for ages now.And can't seem to get any real pressure in the pedal. There are no leaks and the pads do move and grip the disc.I rode it up and down my street to clean the disc off a bit as it lives outside in the rain and was getting surface rust.
I can ride along with the brake pedal right down, you can feel it gripping but very little.
When bleeding it i have a tube from the bleed nipple to a jar of brake fluid,i open the nipple a quarter turn then press the pedal down and do the nipple back up before releaseing the pedal.I leave the top off of the res so i can keep an eye on the level and top it up.
I have now pumped about half a bottle of brake fluid through the caliper and it's not getting any better.

What am i doing wrong

Any air coming out with the fluid Bazza ? I use one of those non return valve thingy's. saves all that fussing about. All you gotta do is pump the mother fooker and dont have to worry about the nipple thing !!!

Bought mine from ebay, but you can get a valve from your local aquarium place and make up your own.

Good luck.

Did someone say bleeding nipples?

Ii had similar issue when bleeding my brake fluid through.
I noticed that the banjo bolt went 'up' from the reseviour (following the handlebar line and above the horizontal line) then down to the rest of the system.
This naturally created a rise, that when i'd pumped new fluid through my brakes i accidentally let it go below the level and it sooked a bit of air in - it trapped some air in that tiny rise loop creating an air pocket. I had to take the brake lever and res off the bar and lift it a bit to remove the rise (putting it horizontal otherwise i'd be pouring fluid out of the res, then it flushed out fine.

Do your banjo bolt come 'up' and above the horizontall line creating a similar air pocket?

Does that post make any sense?

Cheers guys

I have one of those one way valves, but thought i would try it without just incase the valve was'nt working.

I woke up this morning to find that there is a very small amount of fluid around the thread on the bleed nipple. So i guess its not sealing properly and thats where the air is getting in.
So i guess the next stage is "off with the nipple" and replace it with a new one in the hope that it seals better
