Re: Oi !! Bit quiet on ere !
Nightmare at work!!
Friday midday lost all phone lines off the platfrom. Found out that our fibre optic link to the world had failed (both directions North & South) and that any comms off were via a 256K satellite link. As this now takes all our process control, and Admin data traffic things are veerrrrryyyyy ssssslllllllloooooooowwwwwwwww!
Also due to a technical hitch (read f&*% up) our telephone exchange will not route calls over the satellite link.
Only telephones are 1 fixed Inmarsat in the control room, and a portable satellite phone.
Still no fix to the fault which according to our service provider is due to a hardware fault in London, kinda narrows it down a bit!
Hasn't been the best of trips either as I have managed to throw a 6" adjustable wrench, a 10mm socket and a 100mm extension bar into the sea.
Had 2 stroppy gas compressors to deal with. I have 2 different equipment rooms with decidedly ropey looking temporary control modifications hanging out of the cabinets, but they do work!
Just waiting for one of these to take me to Norwich on Wednesday

Went out on my (cough) Impulse today. That damned bit of welding on the engine cover looks like its got a very small leak
at some point i will have to take the cover off and build up the surface i think. Not butting up on the joints as well as i would have liked. Maybe over winter.
