Pete, just say black on the log book and you will be fine.
How many time did you got stop by the police when riding a bike ?

Johnr, I have to say I am very interested on how you are going to weld it ?
Are you opening the tank in half? How do you handle the vapor fuel?

I have to say I always been scare of try to weld a tank.

fuel vapor is easy to remove, petrol vaporises at aout 60 degrees c, so you can express the volatile gasses using steam. walpaper strippers are perfect for this. ive done loads of tanks, and not bown any up yet. as its invisible on the bike, being underneath, i might well just cut out the affected bit and let in a new piece of steel.

Watcha John, shouldnt be any fumes in it. Been empty for ages now.

I have sent it to you today. I hope you are impressed with my packing abilities :) Couldnt find a box, so wrapped it :)

If you think its not repairable then just sling it at the back of the shed. It'll be worth a fortune in 50 years ;)

Let me know about postage back when you send it and i will paypal you some money :)

Once again, thanks for offering to do it. Loads of karma in the parcel ;)

So you're going to have a black bike with a spare set of black panels and tank, for when you want it to look different............

You should have said you neede a spare tank I have 3 here for the 650, (same)
By the way if you wanted the tank because it has a fuel gauge , there really is no need to swap the clocks , it will be so wildly inaccurrate that you will just use the trip meter anyway.
