seat strap - how to mount?

you're in Austria? they're not needed on the UK but I'd guess different straps were made for different seats :-/

as they were made for pillions to hang on to, then do they need to be very tight? i imagine that a pillion would need to get their hands under it.

They are loose as standard.

They are not loose as standard. I must know because these belts are needed for German TÜV and I always have one kicking about for that purpose.
The belt you have there is too long. Could well be that Suzuki came out with different seat holsters on late (Jap-maket-only-Kats) and that's a belt for these?

Who cares anyway. Too long belt looks shite but doesn't affect funktion or TÜV requirements. Just put it in the basement for the next two years once the scrutineers are done...

I never understood the 'teeny tiny number plate' culture, years ago i was at boxhill in surrey, hundreds of bikes there and suddenly half of them started their bikes up and legged it, a couple of seconds later two coppers walked around the corner and all the bikes that had disappeared had illegal small numberplates on them, maybe to some people its anarchy

Wenn ich die Befestigungslaschen beim Messen waagerecht halte, sind's bei mir auch 630 mm. Also dürfte es doch an der Sitzbank liegen. Oder du montierst den Gurt nicht richtig. Beim Festschauben kann man ja nichts verkehrt machen. Dann werden die Druckknöpfe arretiert und dann der Gurt nach hinten über den rückwärtigen Teil der Sitzbank gezogen bis er straff sitzt.

That's just wrong positioned on the rider's seat. It has to be pulled back over the pillion seat until it is tight.

I certainly wouldn't want a pillion using that strap...
